Weather Cancellations

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Camp cancellations (single days or sessions) that result from extenuating circumstances (dangerous weather, emergency situations, etc.) will be refunded on a prorated scale.

This includes unhealthy air quality (AQI of 151-200), extreme heat, severe thunderstorms, or tornadoes.

The increase in global temperature, associated with the intensification of extreme weather events such as heat waves, exposes children to an increasing risk of heat stress. Prolonged exposure to intense heat can compromise physical and mental well-being, negatively affect cognitive performance, and increase the occurrence of heat-related health problems such as dehydration, thermal exhaustion, and heat stroke.

On days where the forecast predicts temperatures above or in excess of (heat index) 90 degrees we will either offer a shortened camp day to avoid the hottest part of the day or cancel camp for the whole day to help protect the health of campers and our staff. Communications for day-of cancellations will be made via text.

Each of the sites chosen for Day Camps does have a shelter for rain, and we will meet in the case of rainy days!

Any weather-related changes of plans during program hours, will be made via text to parent from drop-off.

To ensure the well-being of your child, please follow the recommendations regarding proper attire to stay either warm enough, or cool enough!
