Anthony Ulrich

Anthony grew up in Minnesota, spending much of his childhood immersed in sports, movement, wandering outdoors, and searching for experiences that felt alive and meaningful. Over time, his path led him toward animal tracking, bird language, storytelling, wilderness skills, traditional instinctive archery, and the deep nature connection mentoring lineage of Jon Young, 8 Shields, and Wilderness Awareness School. As his journey deepened, so did a desire to help create the kind of childhood he longed for his own children, and the next generation, to experience, one rooted in wonder, belonging, adventure, community, and meaningful relationship with the natural world. Alongside guiding both adults and children outdoors, Anthony has led wilderness experiences centered around reconnecting with food, land, and sacred relationship with the living world through activities such as wild rice harvesting, maple syruping, foraging, tracking, storytelling, and archery. He is Forest Teacher Institute trained, a certified Level 4 Track and Sign tracker, CPR and First Aid certified, wild water lifeguard certified, and commercially certified in mushroom foraging. Anthony brings a grounded, playful, and deeply relational presence to his guiding, and cares deeply about helping cultivate the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.

Anthony and his wife Melissa Ulrich opened Forest Lake Nature School in Stillwater at the Honeycomb Cottage Fall 2026.

Anthony is a Lead Guide for Summer Day Camps, and has led workshops in Outdoor Odyssey since 2003.
